Date Night....

I had an incredible time with The Daddy tonight. Sad to say, but we only went out to eat and then browsed the local bookstore. That would be one of the disadvantages to living in a fairly small town. Regardless, we had SO much fun together! Just laughing, talking and holding hands. It's amazing how just a couple hours of alone time can relieve so much stress. To top the evening off, we had a nice surprise...two of our three kiddos decided to stay the night at Memaw's. WOOHOO!!! Now we are about to snuggle up on the couch and watch a movie. Oh how much I love date night!!!
Until next time,

The little things...

Sometimes in life it's just the little things that make me smile. Right now, here are my top 5:
* Finding out that Coffeemate has made their Peppermint Mocha creamer available ALL year! WOOHOO!
* Knowing I have 5 gift cards in my purse that I get to use for ME! Although, knowing me they will be spent on my kids somehow...lol!
*Even though I'm sad to see Christmas go, I know that I can start dreaming about Spring and gardening! ;-)
*The fact that my cute little hubby is bringing me lunch today. =0)
And last, but not least.... And not so much of a little thing:
*Watching my kiddos play with what they got for Christmas and sharing with each other while laughing together. Pure bliss!
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

Taking some time....

I'm sorry I've been away so much lately. Things are SERIOUSLY busy around here. I have the best of intentions of getting here nightly, but that just never seems to happen. So, I've decided to make myself feel less guilty, I'm officially taking this week off. Not that I haven't had the last couple off. LOL! I just needed to "say" it offically. So, I will be back next week after Christmas with a few surprises. Have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

With Love,

Bah Humbug Blues...

Okay...So I am one of THOSE people that LOVE Christmas. I mean it is my very FAVORITE!!! However, this year I am having a terrible time getting into the spirit. It feels I am being pulled into 100 different directions and that everyone needs something. I'm not enjoying this feeling... I want to savor every moment of this Christmas; remembering the story of our precious Saviour's birth. One night. One star. One set of two weary-eyed parents. One name...JESUS!

Hope you are having a blessed day,

So sorry...

I must apologize for being gone for awhile(again). The sickness season has already reared it's ugly head in our household. Little man came down with some virus that absessed his tonsil. Yuck! So this has thrown my 30 days of Thanksgiving out of whack. So, I've decided to give you a list instead. Here goes...... I am thankful for:
*The fact that, this year, my dad will be celebrating Thanksgiving cancer free.
*That I live within 20 minutes of every single family member I have.
*That The Daddy and I are fortunate enough to have me be a stay-at-home mom to The Bug, Little Man and Bug-a-boo.
*That I have utilities to pay, because it means I have a home.
*That I have to pay over $2.00 for a gallon of gas, because it means I have a car.
*That my pants are a little too tight, because it means I have more than enough to eat.
*That I have such awesome friends (bloggy friends included =)).
*That I have a family that means the world to me.
*That God gave his one and only son to die on the cross FOR ME. So, that I can live with HIM forever in Paradise......
For all of these things and more I am grateful!
What are you thankful for today?

30 days of Thanksgiving...

I'm so sorry to have missed a few days. The Daddy was out of town and I was super busy. Life gets to be so crazy while be a single parent. ;)
So, for this joyous occasion of The Daddy's return I must say I am thankful that I am NOT a single parent. I can't imagine how you all, that are, do it. I've realized that I have come to rely on The Daddy so much for such little things. I know I have posted how thankful I am for him, but today I am thankful that he is home safely and that life can go back to being our kind of normal for awhile.
Thanks to all of you single parents out there that are working your tails off for your kiddos. I hope that God blesses you in abundance this season and always. It's a hard job and if you are doing it alone then you are truly amazing!!!
Hope you are having a blessed weekend!

30 days....day 7

Today, I am thankful that we live in a country where we are allowed to practice freedom of religion. Can you imagine what it would be like...having to hide your light for Jesus. Today, as I sat in church giving worship to our AMAZING God, I couldn't help but think of those that have learned about our Lord and aren't allowed to even mention his name let alone praise and worship him. My heart breaks for them. Especially knowing there are so many that just CHOOSE not to worship him in our country. My prayer goes out to them as well.
Thank you God for loving me and blessing me with your mercy and grace. For this I am FOREVER thankful!

Giving Thanks....Day 4

Today I am thankful for my accountablity group. We are a small group of 6 women that meet once a month. They are some of the BEST women that you could ever meet. We have been thru LOTS together. Babies, divorce and even a kidney transplant. God has blessed me with some of the greatest friends a woman could ever have.

These pictures were taken quite awhile back (I've lost 40lbs since then). Also I don't have pictures of all of them. But here are a few ....

Feeling VERY blessed today. How about you? What are you thankful for today?

Happy Thursday!

Giving Thanks #3....

Today I am SO thankful for The Daddy! Any man can be a father but it takes a special man to be a daddy! I am so blessed to have a husband that LOVES being a daddy. He is there for our kiddos thru thick and thru thin.
It also takes a special man to be an amazing husband. This man is the greatest thing since sliced bread...just sayin'! I'm VERY lucky to have him. He is my soul mate, my true north. After 14 years of marriage he still makes my heart pitter patter...
I love you mister!

What are you thankful for today?

Happy Wednesday!

30 days of Thanksgiving....

I often feel I don't spend enough time counting my blessings. So, for this special month of thanks I have decided to spend the next 30 days posting about things of which I am thankful for. Note- These are in no special order...
Day one:
I am so thankful that God gave me a sweet girl! A daughter with whom I can share laughter and stories. Someone that makes my heart melt with just a smile. A creative and thoughtful little girl that makes my heart burst at the seams with pride. For this, today and everyday, I am thankful!
I Love you Bug! You are a bright ray of light on a cloudy day! YOU are my sunshine!

What are you thankful for today???

Have a blessed day,

They're baaack!

It's no secret that I LOVE me some coffee... What do I love more than coffee you might ask, well Coffee-mate Holiday Flavored Creamers of course! I was THRILLED to find that my local grocery already has my very most favorite...Peppermint Mocha. Yeah...I bought two large containers and mark my words...they will be gone in 2 weeks tops. I'm that addicted!! I think I may need a 12-step program. LOL!
After buying said creamer I found this recipe online. I am anxious to try it soon. But first, I am going to share it with you...If you try it, let me know what you think.

1 pint fat-free half-and-half (or regular, but I like the fat free, lol)
1/4 cup white chocolate chips
1/8 cup peppermint syrup (I got mine at Starbucks for about $6)
Change Measurements: US Metric

Directions:Prep Time: 1 mins
Total Time: 4 mins
1 pour the half and half into a medium saucepan. 2 stir chocolate chips into the pan. 3 turn the heat onto medium-low and melt the chocolate into the half and half. 4 DO NOT LET THIS BOIL. 5 Once the chocolate is melted turn the heat off. 6 give it a good stir and mix in the peppermint syrup. 7 Store in a container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks :)
Happy Saturday to you,

Yummy Cookbook...

If your kiddos are like mine, they are super picky. Recently our church had an amazing women's ministry event that featured an amazing speaker. She suggested this cookbook for busy families. With the name of the book fresh on my mind, I set out to find it as soon as I got home. First, I went to Gooseberry Patch.com and was disappointed to find it cost about $30. So the thrifty girl in me went to work to find it cheaper. Well, the stars aligned and fate was on my side....I found it on Amazon.com for a mere fraction of the original cost. Boy am I glad I did! This book is chock full of AMAZING recipes. Not just any recipes, but recipes my kids will actually EAT! Easy Chicken Pot Pie, Oven-Baked Chicken Fingers and Pizza Mac & Cheese....just to name a few. If you have picky eaters or just a busy schedule that doesn't allow alot of time for cooking, this book may be for you! Go check it out. I'm sure you won't be sorry that you did.
Happy Sunday,

A trip to the patch...

Every year we go to a local pumpkin patch. Sometimes I would like to try a different one, but I have become so fond this one in particular it's hard to break tradition.
Here is The Bug and sweet Bug-a-boo. What an amazing big sister she is. She adores him. In fact, I believe it to be a mutual admiration society! LOL!

How cute is this fella???

Me and our Little Man! Can't believe how big he is these days. Plus, the kid eats like a horse. I can't imagine what it will be like when he is a teen and Bug-a-boo is his age..Yikes!

Happy Friday,

14 years...

I can't believe how quickly time flies...On Tuesday, The Daddy and I celebrated 14 years of wedded bliss. It doesn't seem like it's been that long. Yet, looking back at all that's happened in that time it seems like a lifetime ago. I am so thankful to have such an amazing man in my life. God must have been thinking of me when he created him. I feel so blessed to be married to my very best friend. We laugh together, love together and play together. Happy Anniversay Mister! I love you to the moon and back!

Aprons-a-plenty

There is just something about aprons that bring me great joy. Especially vintage or homemade aprons. Maybe it's the history behind each one, or the time and love that goes into making one. Here are just a few of my favorites....

This one is for kiddos and I LOVE it! Isn't is just darling?? I found it at Sugar Chic Baby

My daughter may need one of those. They are just so sweet!

And how cute are these??? Certainly too cute to cook in! I found them on Bandelle Blog. I ADORE Them....

I must say Jessie Steele sure knows how to make work look pretty... Plus, don't ya just love the vintage kitchen??

I wouldn't mind cooking and looking beautiful while doing it! How about you? Do you have a favorite apron??? Or better yet, an apron with a story to tell?
